Vicar Jordan Scott

IN  HIS  OWN  WORDS (9/2007) :

I grew up in rural northern Wisconsin in a small town of 100 people.  I was raised by my single mother and I have a younger sister.  I've also had numerous dogs over the years.

I've always felt called to be a pastor.  Since I was a young boy, I was mentored by my local parish pastor.  I also took piano lessons and learned to play the organ.  When I was in the 7th grade, I started playing organ for the local Methodist church.  I also played for a Catholic church and a wide range of Lutheran churches.

While in high school, I started dating the woman who would become my wife.  My wife, Martha, and I have been married for four years now.  We have a 2½ year old daughter Emma and a three month old son, Elijah.  When I am not busy working, I love taking my family out biking or playing in the backyard.

Moving from my rural small town to a big metropolis for college was pretty traumatic.  So I went to Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN.   There I studied Biblical Studies and minored in Ancient and Classical Languages.  While in college, I became a charter member of our local chapter for Theta Alpha Kappa, an honor society for theological studies.  I really have a love and passion for the languages of the Bible.  The languages serve my greater passion to be an accurate Bible expositor and teacher.  I also enjoy explaining what the Bible means and relating the timeless message of the Gospel to our modern contexts.
